Muladhara means root or base: the base chakra is the foundation upon which we grow, and from which the kundalini rises. The root chakra is related to the physical body and the adrenal glands. It is associated with the element of earth. It is good to meditate on the root chakra for manifesting and grounding as the lessons here are related to the material world. This is the base, or foundation upon which our evolving life is built, if the foundation is not strong and stable we run the risk of collapsing in mid flight.
